My editorial photography session with Calvin, a journey that delved deep into the essence of minimalism and raw emotion.
Embracing the artistry of vintage photography, I opted for my 120 format Holga CFN camera to capture Calvin’s essence. Due to the camera’s purposeful light leaks in the backdrop, I was able to infuse the imagery with a touch of whimsical charm. The choice of 120 Kodak Professional Portra 400 Color Negative Film added a layer of depth, rendering dreamy blue hues accentuated by subtle yellow light leaks.
When planning my editorial photography sessions, I always believe that less is often more. Calvin, adorned in a simple black jacket and pants, stood as the focal point in an otherwise empty room. The minimalistic wardrobe served as a canvas, thus allowing his persona to shine through unabated. Through the lens of a portrait photographer, every nuance of his expression was captured with precision, painting a poignant portrait of vulnerability and strength.
