Personal brand photography for myself? Yikes! I’m used to directing others from behind the safety of my own camera, so the thought of putting myself on the other side of the lens can be such a stressful task. However, every business owner should have an updated image or two every year. It’s been too long since I’ve updated mine. I figured it was time to go for it.
After all, when else do you get to take on the roles of lead photographer, assistant, and subject all at once? Okay…..I didn’t do all the work, Allison did help me through a bunch of it!! I found my picture-perfect spot in the studio next to my favorite window. It has the best light! Then I began to experiment by framing myself in a reflection of a mirror via unusual angles and distances. We set up all of my favorite things from home that were closest to my heart to help me feel at ease. However, if you look closely you will find the original huge antique gold key to the studio hidden in the mix. Allison and I knew that having this key hidden in each of our sessions was a must! A reminder of how far we’ve come as a business since 2013 and all of the hurdles we have overcome to get to this point.
